The 33rd season of CAL is live with cash prizes, FACEIT points, and skins up for grabs. Today we are also announcing the first dates for the returning Grassroots Cup series.
CAL Keeps Buggering On!
We will be the first ones to admit that it is hard to distinguish the different CAL seasons. For the most part, it is business as usual. However, at times, worrying signs appear like clouds on a sunny day. Our last season was one of those rare occasions, where the activity in two of our divisions – Div 2 & 3 – was low enough to make us worried. To combat this, we will be conducting a leaguewide survey in June to better understand how to improve the experience for our players.
In addition to better understanding our players’ wants and needs, we understand that a big responsibility lies with us. Every time we have had a partner on board sponsoring the league with product prizes, the activity has increased significantly. We believe that this will stay true moving forward, too. We are currently in the midst of a major internal effort to improve our success in signing partnership deals, and we hope that our collective work will bear fruit in Q3 of 2021.
The Community Tournaments Are Here!
The first dates of our returning Grassroots Cup series have now been decided. Grassroots Cup IV will be played 19-20 June, with a $500 prize pool. We have decided to go with a 16-team bracket, and it is first-come, first-served, so make sure to not sleep on your team’s registration. We will be running a stream with commentators for both of the semi-finals, as well as the final, so even if you are not playing you will be able to tune in and watch the games. To participate in the tournament, at least one of the team’s players has to be subscribed to CAL.
