BLAST Chinese Qualifier: Douyu Fall Cup starts today – teams, format, broadcast, schedule, and more

The Douyu Fall Cup 2021 teams have been finalized following the conclusion of the closed qualifier. After Gaming and CatEvil are among the four teams that earned the main event spots after fighting through the open qualifier bracket.

Douyu Fall Cup 2021, a BLAST Premier Fall Showdown Qualifier for China, will take place on August 27-29, featuring eight Chinese teams of four invited teams and four qualifying teams that made the cut. Most of the big names managed to make it, except for Invictus Gaming, who withdrew from the closed qualifier due to schedule conflicts with Funspark ULTI 2021: Asian Playoffs #1.

TYLOO, LVG, Wings Up Gaming, and ViCi Gaming received direct invites to the main event, with After Gaming, Cat Evil, Captain Cook, and Wing Hei “Freeman” Cheung’s NSN Gaming completing the list through the qualifier.

BLAST Chinese Qualifier: Douyu Fall Cup 2021 – Teams, Groups, Roster Changes

Ahead of the tournament, several Chinese teams have altered their lineups in preparation for the battle for a guaranteed spot in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. Below are the groups for Douyu Fall Cup 2021:

After Gaming brought in the addition of Huat Zai’s Nevin “splashske” Aw as a stand-in. Captain Cook, a new team headlined by Kun “ChrisMaQ” Liu, the owner of LVG, together with two former LVG players ZhenDong “Not7” Mo and YiNan “Mr.mao” Wang were able to beat Let’s Quit on their way to qualify to the main event.

CatEvil are among the teams that have not made any changes in the past four months. Former Big Time Regal Gaming players, Zhitao “Drea3er” Zhang and BinJie “Cate” Wang and former After Gaming player Xu “Roninbaby” Peng will attend their first significant event together.

Wing Hei “Freeman” Cheung, who is presently on the reserve list for TYLOO, is filling in for NSN Gaming. They’ll be taking part in Group of Death with ViCi Gaming, Wings Up Gaming, and After Gaming. On the other side of the bracket, LiZhi “Starry” Ye, a former Invictus Gaming player, is presently on trial with LVG, bolstering the lineup with another sixth-man configuration.

Douyu Fall Cup 2021 will take place on August 27-29, featuring eight contestants duking it out for a spot at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. The top two teams from both groups will then progress to the single-elimination, best-of-three playoffs, and culminate with a grand final scheduled on Sunday, August 29 at 20.00 SGT (UTC+8).

Aside from Douyu, BLAST Premier is collaborating with partners all around the globe to develop a qualifying series. These qualifications will be regionalized, with eight qualifying teams from the Chinese, LATAM, Eastern European, MEA, Iberian, Nordic, and other qualifiers from all around the world.

The winner of Douyu Fall Cup 2021 will be joined by the other qualifiers champions, two invited teams, and eight BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2021 teams.

The winning team from each of these regional qualifying events will not only earn a spot in October’s Fall Showdown but also a chance of claiming part of the $162,500 prize pool, with the ultimate aim of reaching the Fall Final and World Final.
