The Asian Pro League enters its 11th Season – to celebrate, we’re lowering the subscription and adding a ton of prizes!
Here we are, almost a year in with the APL! As we enter Season 11 we look for answers to revitalize the league and provide the best overall playing experience for all our subscribers.
Ladders are now open as of August 1st, 2019 at 00:00 (SGT), and players from Division 1 and Division 2 will continue to duke it out for their share of the monthly prize pool. Below is a summary of the changes, winners of Season 10 and more exciting updates!
Major Changes
As we approach the one year anniversary for the APL we move forward with a tremendous amount of learnings. It is apparent that things need to drastically change – from the allocation of resources, prizes, server allocation, admin team as well as the overall structure of the league.
To start things off, the APL is beginning to transition to a more community-focused league. We want to continue to provide the best playing experience for ALL players, and not just encourage the top players.
Pro Division to Close Indefinitely
One of the biggest changes this season is the closure of Pro Division. We have made the difficult decision to indefinitely close the Pro Division mainly because of a lack of activity.
Our Pro Division consisted of the top 200 or so players from all over Asia, and while we were very confident in our selection of the best players Asia has to offer, the reality was that the experiment did not provide it’s key success indicators. The activity was strong at the start, but as is always an issue with Asia – language and infrastructure issues plagued the league. This meant that very few players could actually commit to playing long-term.
Before things get out of hand in terms of creating an unsustainable league, we are closing Pro Division to make sure that more people get to enjoy the benefits of playing in the APL.
New Prizes & Subscription Fee
To follow through with this commitment, we have significantly reduced the price of subscribing to the APL. The monthly fee is now only $1.99/month, and that means it is more accessible to more people.
Secondly, we wanted to make it exciting to play in the APL. On top of just having a better overall experience, we wanted to ensure that there was enough incentive for players in Division 1 and 2 to play other than making it an aim to be part of Pro Division.
As such, effective immediately, the prizes for each Division are now as follows:
Division 1
– 200k FACEIT points every month.
– 500 USD every month.
Division 2
– 100k FACEIT points every month.
– 5 weapon skins every month.
