ESEA Season 36 Open APAC Playoffs Week 1 set to start

by Juandi

The single-elimination playoffs are set to kick off today following the conclusion of the group stage, which will feature a total of 12 top APAC teams.

ESEA Season 36 Open APAC will be held over the course of four weeks (March 25-April 15), and will feature 12 teams who finished the group stage out of 28 teams competing. The open qualifier came to a close on March 18, with NG Esports, Renewal, ZIGMA all advancing to the playoffs.

This season will see small changes, including its prize pool distribution, which will be broken down to the top four standings instead only to the first and second prize winner we saw in the previous five seasons. GR Gaming, Hulegu, myRevenge Nepal and Chimp Store will not join the rest of the competition as the total of teams competing in the playoffs was reduced from 16 to 12 teams. So far, A low amount of teams in the region is the main suspect regarding the change that was announced on February 6.

“We have still kept the division top-heavy in order to encourage competition and have also adjusted some of the breakdowns of the lower divisions,”
