After hosting the Major earlier this year, the prestigious IEM event sees Asia granted one spot on the international stage in Katowice 2020.
Intel Extreme Masters has announced open qualifiers for IEM Katowice 2020. Counter-Strike’s most coveted event is once again returning to Katowice from February 28 to March 1, 2020. IEM Season 14 will see 16 teams knock heads for their share of $500,000 prize pool. Fnatic has already secured a spot at the event after their victory in Mälmo, alongside Astralis who earned their spot thanks to their recent success in Beijing. The remaining teams are yet to be determined, with seven more teams invited and six determined by worldwide qualifiers.

The dates for the Asian open qualifiers are as follows:
- December 7-8 – Open qualifier #1
- December 9-10 – Open qualifier #2
As there are no regional qualifiers, these qualifiers are open to all Asian teams. Each open qualifier will see two teams advance through to the closed qualifiers, where they will join four yet to be determined invited teams. The closed qualifiers are scheduled to run from January 7th -9th, 2020.
