by Nikhil Hathiramani

The S.E.A regional online qualifiers for eXTREMESLAND saw 62 teams register. These five teams will join the three invited teams for the eight-team regional LAN finals.

Held in the Suntec Convention center in Singapore between Sep 5th – 8th, the Esports Festival Asia will be hosting the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Asia Open – S.E.A Regional Finals. As one of four tournaments happening during the event, the CS:GO series will see the five qualified teams and three invited teams which were announced earlier today.

The online qualifiers began on Saturday, 24th August and saw familiar teams such as Indonesia’s BOOM ID and XCN (Executioners). Sixty-two teams fought their way through a BO1, single-elimination bracket to reach the quarter-finals.

Quarter-finals were played out in a BO3, double-elimination bracket. Because of the nature of invites for the S.E.A LAN finals, five teams instead of four would stand a chance to make it to Singapore.

Singapore’s Exodus and L.A.Z.E were the first to qualify, followed by Brunei’s GoodFellas Gaming and Indonesia’s XCN. The losers bracket featured Singaporean squads sub:stance and 30.6, with ArkAngel and Orange Esports on the other side. After a decisive 2-0 victory by 30.6 and 2-1 victory for ArkAngel, the last spot was up for grabs.

ArkAngel faced 30.6 for the last and final spot. After a decisive 16-10 victory on Inferno, Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan and his men fell short 13-16 on Overpass. It was a decider game on Mirage which turned the tables for good, and 30.6 took the final game 16-12, securing their spot to the Esports Festival Asia.

This will be the first time we see GoodFellas on a large scale regional LAN. The final team list for the S.E.A regional finals is as follows:

🇸🇬 BOOT-d[S] (Invited)
🇲🇾 FrostFire (Invited)
🇵🇭 Bren Esports (Invited)
🇧🇳 GoodFellas Gaming
