IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Asia Begins This Friday

by Juandi

IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Asia will feature four of the best teams in Asia going head-to-head to fight for the US$15,000 prize pool and 315 Pro Tour Points.

Intel Extreme Masters (IEM), as we know, is one of the longest-running global tournaments in the world. Since 2006, this Intel-sponsored event has been running for more than 25 seasons, across four continents. Due to the pandemic, ESL has decided to suspend all offline events, affecting this year’s IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 stop. The move resulted in the $250,000 event being divided into four online regional events.

The regional events: Asia, Oceania, North America, and Europe, will feature thirty-two of the best teams around the World. The Europe and North America events are already underway.

In the Asia division, four teams will compete for a total of US$15,000 and 315 Pro Tour points. Three Chinese teams, including TYLOO, Invictus Gaming and ViCi Gaming, were directly invited. One qualified team, D13 from Mongolia, qualified after beating China’s Wings Up 3-1 in the closed qualifiers.

Everything you need to know about IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Asia

As previously mentioned, only four East Asian teams will participate in this online playoff, comprising three invited teams and one team who came from closed qualifiers. In order to qualify, D13 managed to beat prominent Asian teams, including ZIGMA from Thailand, and fellow Mongolians, TIGER. The upset makes them the only non-Chinese team competing in IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Asia.
