CAL Season 14 – Off To A Great Start

by Nikhil Hathiramani

Last month, we announced the new version of the Asian Pro League, the CSGO2ASIA League (CAL). The first month of the revamped CAL has gone (mostly) as planned!

As we enter Season 14, one thing remains true:  the playing experience for all our subscribers is paramount to the success of the CSGO2ASIA League.

In the past few months, we have made several changes – lowering the subscription fee, adding new faceit point event leaderboards and continuously asking for your feedback about the development of this league. A few things stand out, and a few things backfired along the way, but overall we feel that the goals of the CSGO2ASIA League are to create an environment that allows players to learn and improve, to grow and to be free from toxic players and cheaters.

And in case you missed it, don’t forget to check out our new home – the best place to keep up to date with everything related to the CAL!

A Note About The Division Splits

Last season, we announced the new CAL and made changes to the divisions based on qualitative and quantitive feedback from all of you. The current division splits remain the same, with an overlap of players allowed to play in Division 1, 2 and 3. Below you can find links to the active divisions in the CSGO2ASIA League:

Division 1 – [Level 9-10]*
*Able to queue: Level 8-10

Division 2 – [Level 5-8]*
*Able to queue: Level 4-8

Division 3 – [Level 1-4]*
*Able to queue: Level 1-4

The confusion comes in who can join versus who can play. At the moment, because of lower queue activity specifically in Division 3, we want to allow the maximum number of players able to queue and encourage matches. For now, this will remain unchanged. However, any new players wanting to join these divisions will have to meet the minimum level requirements in order to join.

Sustainability is Key

For those interested in the business side of the league, it has been one of the main objectives since day one to keep this league as sustainable as possible. This is why we have refused to obtain high-level sponsors since day one. Having done so, this means inherent limitations into the prize pools we can offer in the league, as our prizes are directly tied to subscriptions. We at CSGO2ASIA feel it necessary to continue this tradition up until the point that the league itself is robust enough to deserve additional prizes and drive value for our sponsors, who like to see healthy activity levels independent of prize incentives – and we are almost there. As such, the prize purse of US$500 remains unchanged, and details of the prizes are the same as last season.

Without further ado, let us get to the more important details. Who won last season, what are the prizes this season and what changes have we made? All of this can be seen below.
