Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch schedule announced

by Juandi

Hyperion Servers and Oceanic Esports League have announced the full schedule of Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch, which will be held from May 19-23, offering US$17,500 on the line.

Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch were originally scheduled for the start of this year, January 13-17. However, due to damages that affected server latency in Asia on Hyperion’s server infrastructure, the double-elimination playoffs event ended up being postponed to an unknown date. With the release of the latest announcement made by the organizer, the confirmed dates are May 19-23.

Hyperion x OEL CS:GO Launch will feature participants from all over America, Asia, and Oceania. A total of 16 teams will duke it out for the lion’s share of the $17,500 prize pool as well as the inaugural championship title. So far, 11 teams have confirmed their attendance at the first inter-regional online event held for Asia and ANZ region.

Furthermore, the remaining five teams that will complete the lineup will be announced at a later date as the organizer has expanded the team slots to 16. The runner-up of the Asian Open Qualifier #1, Paper Rex, have pulled out from the event as well as the scene following their full transition to Riot’s VALORANT. Their replacement will be announced soon together with the other four invited teams.

The inaugural iteration of the event will feature a double-elimination, best-of-three (BO3) bracket with the grand final as an exception to feature a best-of-five (BO5) final with one map advantage for the upper-bracket team.

The competition will be hosted on Hyperion Servers’ newly-launched Guam game servers. Guam, the U.S. island territory in the Pacific, is located approximately equidistant to the major surrounding nations and represents both a new space for casual inter-regional gaming, as well as a level playing field for competitive regional play.
