LVG win Huya DarkHorse League Season 7

Lynn Vision Gaming (LVG) have won the seventh edition of the Huya DarkHorse League with a 2-1 victory over D13 (16-13 on Train, 8-16 on Vertigo, and 16-8 on Nuke).

LVG’s victory at the event marks the first win for the team in 2021. Other than that, Heng “EXPRO” Yang-led side have once again added another trophy to their cabinet as well as their third winning streak to the table after winning four of the previous Huya DarkHorse League tournaments (Season 1, 3, 5, 6, 7).

About the event, Huya DarkHorse League Season 7 pitted some of the notable teams from East Asia to compete for the grand total of ¥ 30,000 CNY (~US$4,639). TSG, Wings Up, and The Black Company are among the top East Asian teams invited to compete. The event was held on January 16-27, with them spending eight days for the Regular Season and the final three days for the playoffs.

The regular season standings of Huya DarkHorse League Season 7 are as follows:

Lynn Vision went to the grand final by beating both D13 (Inferno 16-10, Nuke 16-7) and Wings Up (Dust2 16-7, Inferno 16-8) in a relatively easy path. Meanwhile, D13 reached the final after losing to LVG in the first round of the upper bracket, and beat Checkmate (FF) and Wings Up (Train 16-8, Dust2 16-9) in the lower bracket. The grand final was the first appearance of Munkhtogtokh “xerolte” Enkhbat after D13 acquired him on January 23.

The series came down to Train, D13’s map pick, where the Mongolian went into the first half, rocking a solid 9-6 scoreline. However, the Chinese side started the second half by taking the lead in the pistol round and slowly overtaking D13 to win the first map, putting the game to bed in the 29th round, 16-13.

LVG’s map pick, Vertigo, did not go as well as they expect. With the help of Tengis “sk0R” Batjargal, D13 cruised to a 7-0 lead before LVG responded back with a 6 round streak on their own. The one-sided game continues with the Mongolian side trampled LVG to add another eight points to their score. Another two rounds win gave LVG a glimpse of hope but was immediately traded back by D13 to lock down the map at 16-8.

Nuke began as the decider map, with LVG starting on the CT side. The advantages of the CT side of Nuke were shown here with Zhe “westmelon” Niu and co. claiming twelve rounds to the first half. The second half saw D13 gave some resistance to be able to stay in the series. Nevertheless, westmelon’s 29 kills were able to spearhead the Chinese to a 16-8 victory and the Huya DarkHorse League Season 7 title.
