Camel Riders Add Ejram

by Ruben Backx

The Middle-East mixed squad mixes things up further, adding a new IGL and coach to the line-up.

Camel Riders earned their spot in the Asia Minor in early March, fighting their way through both the open and closed qualifiers to represent the Middle East. With the Asia Minor being replaced by Valve’s RMR system, Asia’s best are set to fight over a single spot in ESL One’s online event, Road to Rio.

Regular top dogs like TYLOO and ViCi are favorites to win the event, given they are the ones who have made deeper runs in the past Majors. However, don’t count out Camel Riders. They have made some changes to the lineup to be more competitive. Ahmed “Ejram” Hayder joins as the IGL, replacing with Mamoon “TeaTime” Sabri as their new coach.

Hayder previously played on NASR Esports and was part of the ShotCallers line-up at the PLG Grand Slam 2018.

The changes were explained in a statement to CSGO2ASIA:

We added Ahmed “Ejram” Hayder because we felt the team’s biggest bottleneck whilst playing the minor qualifiers came down to a missing sense of direction and leadership. Ahmed “Ejram” Hayder is a well-respected leader in the Middle Eastern scene, and has continually shown excellence on his previous teams. His experience and voice are a massive addition to the talent-filled roster that we already have.

We’re also proud to announce the addition of Mamoon “TeaTime” Sabri to the lineup. Although better known as a commentator, host or even interviewer, within the scene, he is an important addition to the team – particularly when it comes to creating better communication structures both inside and outside of the game.

We also asked the team’s new coach how the team is feeling going into the tournament.

The team’s definitely excited. The Middle East has historically been shy of a big win against Southeast Asian and Chinese teams, but we think that this time may be a little different than most people expect.

Clearly, Camel Riders are looking to boost their firepower. It will be exciting to see how far they can go, but with the event being played online, it will be an obstacle to overcome.

The updated roster is as follows:

  • 🇮🇶 Ahmed “Ejram” Hayder
  • 🇦🇪 Abdulrahman “DVDOV” Alawadhi
  • 🇵🇰 Saad “PokemoN” Ahmed
  • 🇦🇪 Yosef “Ttyke” Abdullah
  • 🇸🇾 Ahmad “Mistyy” Yakoub
  • 🇵🇰 Mamoon “TeaTime” Sabri (Coach)
