Team NKT clinched the Funspark ULTI 2021 Asia: Season 2 trophy, their first significant victory since their establishment last year, with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Wings Up Gaming.
Funspark ULTI 2021 Asia: Season 2 featured sixteen of Asia’s finest teams competing over the course of two weeks. Among the teams participating were Enkhtaivan “Machinegun” Lkhagva’s BCO, Team NKT, and LVG. At the end of the GSL group stage, two teams from each of the four groups qualified:
?? LVG | ?? Wings Up Gaming |
?? Camel Riders | ?? Invictus Gaming |
?? Renewal | ?? Checkmate |
? Team NKT | ?? After Gaming |
In the playoffs, Wings Up went on to crush LVG and Camel Riders to reach the grand final. On the other side of the bracket, Renewal overcame Checkmate but could not do enough damage to take down Team NKT on their way to the grand final.
The Grand Final – Team NKT vs Wings Up Gaming
It was a thrilling match to watch on Team NKT’s map selection, Overpass. After Tengis “sk0R” Batjargal contributed four kills in the opening pistol round, Team NKT were able to capitalize it further and accumulated eight consecutive rounds on the T side. However, the Chinese side was able to steal a few rounds before the first half concluded with Team NKT still leading 10-5.
A side switch was what Wings Up needed. After switching to the T side, Wings Up strive and make Team NKT sweat for a moment. At the point which Wings Up got the lead by 14-13 over NKT, the Anthony “ImpressioN” Lim-led squad were able to put up a stop sign and close the map with a three-round win streak to deny the Chinese comeback.

Dust2, Wings Up’s selection, was a snap. The second game followed a similar pattern but concluded differently, with Wings Up coming out flat on defense. NKT were in no mood to take pity on their stunned opponents and came out all guns blazing on the map, bringing the game to a swift conclusion 16-5, as well as taking the series 2-0 to win Funspark ULTI 2021: Asia Season 2.
Tengis “sk0R” Batjargal’s arrival on Team NKT is a game-changer. With a 2.15 HLTV rating and 133.8 ADR, the 19-year-old topped the leaderboard and made a significant difference in the game. Wings Up, on the other hand, are still trying to adjust to a new circumstance after the addition of YangYang “ayaya” Zheng to the active squad, who has taken over the in-game leading role from Hui “DD” Wu.
