ViCi won the IEM Katowice 2020 Asia Closed Qualifier over TYLOO to secure a spot at the prestigious event in Poland.
ViCi completed a clean run through the IEM Katowice 2020 Asia Closed Qualifier bracket dropping just two maps in the process to earn their ticket to Poland. They made their way through the upper bracket with victories over Alpha Red, AUGUST, and Bren.
TYLOO, who were playing their last matches with this roster before Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand takes off to North America to join his Gen.G teammates, came from the lower-bracket after their earlier loss to Philippines’ BREN Esports. The boys from Manila managed to take down TYLOO 2-1 in the upper-bracket semi-finals, however, TYLOO bounced back in the lower bracket and dominated 2-0 in the rematch.
The best-of-five grand final was swooped up in only two maps thanks to their upper-bracket advantage, and while TYLOO were favorites to win, ViCi made quick work of TYLOO winning 16-12 and 16-7 on Mirage and Overpass respectively.
ViCi will be the only representative from Asia, and this will be their first appearance at the Spodek Arena. Last year, they missed their shot at the IEM Katowice 2019 CS:GO Major coming in 9-11th place in the Main Qualifier.
