SEA Fire Championship 2018 Kicks Off This Week

by Nikhil Hathiramani

Running from Oct 26th – 28th in Hanoi, Vietnam, the SEA Fire Championship will feature eight teams from Asia as well a US$13,000 prize pool.

The SEA Fire Championship (SFC) tournament is a newly created LAN event held at the CYZONE Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam. Six teams from Asia have been invited to compete, with the remaining two slots given to Vietnam through open qualifiers, held earlier this month.

The competition is a platform to give Vietnamese teams a chance to compete in a LAN environment and put them up against teams they normally would not face. Some notable teams in attendance include Korea’s GOSU, Japan’s Team Ignis as well as recent eXTREMESLAND attendees FrostFire from Malaysia and SadStory from Taiwan. FrostFire is by far the top contender at the event, currently ranked 9th in Asia and 79th in the World on HLTV.

Group stages will feature the GSL format of BO1 upper bracket games with BO3 deciders, followed by a BO3 playoff stage and a BO5 final. More information about streams and schedule is still unknown at this time.

The event kicks off this week, from October 26th – 28th, and features the following teams:
