HP Omen CS:GO Challenger Series 2019 – Teams Almost Finalized

by Alex Deng

The HP Omen Challenger Series 2019 team list is almost complete, with only the Oceania regional qualifiers left. Teams such as 5POWER Gaming, NASR Esports, Bren Esports, B.O.O.T, and ALPHA Red have already qualified for the $50,000 tournament.

Scheduled to take place from 1st – 3rd November at the Jakarta Convention Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The HP OMEN Challenger Series will feature twelve teams from the APAC region.

Announced in early August, the tournament features a group stage that will divide the twelve participating teams into two groups of six teams each. Both these groups will follow a best-of-one, round-robin format. The top two teams from each group qualifying for the playoffs.

The playoffs will follow a best-of-three, single-elimination format with the winner walking away with the lion’s share of the $50,000 prize pool. However, that’s not all! The winner will also get an all-expense-paid trip to witness a global esports tournament in Europe.

Interestingly, the rules of the tournament meant that teams featuring at least one player from the list of allowed countries were eligible to qualify through that specific qualifier. This allowed teams such as NASR Esports to play in the Indian qualifier despite the UAE not having its own national qualifier.

Top Korean squad, MVP PK, will be absent from the tournament after their team made some roster changes which impacted their ability to attend the Korean qualifier.

The last qualifier awaiting completion is the Australia & New Zealand qualifier, set to take place at the Armageddon Gaming Expo in Auckland, New Zealand, later this month.

More Than Just Gaming

The event will be a mixture of gaming, music, and lifestyle, as HP partners with MTV Asia to bring in a live concert featuring a few renowned local artists along with some gaming-lifestyle infused exclusive content pieces via MTV Asia.

In addition, fans who purchase any participating HP Omen and Pavilion Gaming products will get a chance to participate in a lucky draw. The winner of which will win an all-expense-paid trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, while also getting a chance to attend the grand finals of the OMEN Challenger Series.
